The hotel was designed by renowned Chilean architect Cazú Zegers, and was created to become one with the surrounding landscape, removing the boundaries between person and place. Constructed with sustainable lenga wood from local forests it forms a structure that seems to have been carved by the Patagonian winds, resembing an enormous prehistoric animal basking on the shores of the lake.
The vibe of the common areas is undeniably social, as guests come together to regale tales of their adventures and enjoy a drink from the grand circular bar. Warm wood paneling and crafted furnishings invite lounging by the fire with a book and a huge, beautifully illustrated map of Patagonia is ready and waiting for those eager to plan the next day’s excursions. At night, the convivial atmosphere mirrors the twinkling stars, creating an atmospheric glow of its own.
The restaurant delivers a truly immersive dining experience, with sweeping windows on both sides showcasing an ever-changing backdrop of the whirlwind weather and wildlife at play. The curved lenga wood ceiling and soft lighting lends a warm ambience, creating a cosy refuge from the elements. We take pride in honouring traditional recipes through our contemporary cuisine and celebrating local ingredients sourced from the nearby estancias surrounding our lodge.
Uma, or ‘water’ in the Aymara language, is celebrated at Uma Spa, a welcome oasis amid wild terrain. Towering windows surround the infinity-edge pool to capture panoramic views from day to night, accompanied by a sauna, steam room and open-air whirlpool tub for warm soaks and wildlife sightings. Revitalise body and soul with massages, yoga, and natural treatments featuring calafate, maqui, and Chilean laurel.

To minimise environmental impact during the construction of Tierra Patagonia, our landscape artists removed all the on-site vegetation, temporarily nurturing it in a greenhouse before replanting it around the hotel after completion. As a result we are rewarded with frequent visits from the native wildlife who make their homes here.
We offer a range of excursions that give guests the opportunity to experience the local customs and traditions of our region. Patagonian culture and history is celebrated throughout the hotel’s interior design, from our intricately detailed wall map to illustrated feature panels, handicrafts, textiles and artefacts from across the region.
The hotel utilises solar panels, LED lighting and closely manages thermal efficiency to reduce energy consumption. Eco-conscious excursions and elimination of single-use plastics are integral. We also actively support a significant reforestation program that seeks to plant one million trees in Chilean Patagonia’s national parks.
