Everyone who visits Torres del Paine National Park falls in love with these geological formations. Among the well-known lofty peaks and seemingly infinite iconic lookout points to be found across Torres del Paine, there are also many majestic lakes and towering waterfalls waiting to be discovered and ready to take center stage.
From the hotel we will travel 50 minutes to the beginning of the trail. Entering the national park through the Sarmiento entrance, time is quite rightly spent admiring picture-postcard vistas across Laguna Los Cisnes, Lago Sarmiento and Lago Nordenskold as you drive, before arriving at the trailhead on Nordenskold’s shores. Loosely following the natural curvature of this grand lake, two hours of steady, strenuous hiking results in supremely satisfying views of the French Valley and Horns of Paine beyond.
Next, you will witness the Salto Grande, Torres del Paine’s largest waterfall and one of the truly unmissable sights for anyone visiting the park. The liquid theme continues with a gentler trail along the banks of Lake Pehoé, with this brilliantly-blue glacial expanse, framed by sugar-topped mountains, making for a fitting end to this spellbinding day of hiking.
